Hey everyone, Here are the updates for the latest version of PRINTOOLS. Two new garment suppliers have arrived, GST-free items now work properly from the quote right through to the portal, and the client portal is cleaner for your customers.
Heads up: invoices are no longer created automatically when a client accepts a quote. If you’d like that, switch it on in Settings → Automations.

Highlights

Two new suppliers

Legend Life and Gildan Brands are in, with your own account pricing.

GST-free done right

GST-free items now correctly reduce the GST on quotes, invoices and the portal.

A cleaner portal

Quick Mocks have their own section, and refreshing no longer signs clients out.

New features

Two new garment suppliers

  • Legend Life. The full Legend Life catalogue (products, colours, sizes, photos and stock) is now in PRINTOOLS. Add your own Legend Life API key to see your account pricing, which changes with the quantity ordered, and refresh it any time with “Sync prices”.
  • Gildan Brands. Gildan, American Apparel, Champion, Comfort Colors, Colortone and All Pro are now in one catalogue. Choose your Gildan Brands pricing tier (X-Classic, X-Midweight or X-Heavyweight) and your prices follow it.
  • Garment Suppliers page. A new page in Settings gives every supplier its own on/off switch. AS Colour is on by default, and new suppliers start off.
  • The search bar at the top now also finds purchase orders, garments, decorations and pre-built items, as well as quotes, customers and jobs.

Client portal

  • Quick Mocks have their own section in the portal instead of appearing as proofs. Clients can comment on them, and the Proofs section only appears once there’s a real proof.
  • Refreshing the portal no longer signs clients out.
  • Mark as sent. Mark a quote as sent without emailing it, so your client can view and approve it from a link you’ve shared another way. Approved Quick Mocks now appear on the job’s proofs with a “Quick Mock” tag.

Invoicing and accounting

  • Creating an invoice when a quote is accepted is now an automation, switched off by default. Clients only see the invoice in the portal once the quote is marked Invoiced.
  • Xero: line items arrive in the same order as on the quote, tax rates are checked, and each quote remembers whether Xero or PRINTOOLS handles its invoice.

GST-free items

  • GST-free items now actually reduce the GST charged. They’re clearly marked on quotes, quote PDFs, invoice PDFs and the client portal, with a note explaining why the GST is lower. The GST-free setting is also kept when a line is duplicated or a quote becomes a job.

Colours

  • Garment colours with no colour code now show the right swatch, using our colour reference list.

Improvements

Building quotes

  • Quick Mock opens straight on the garment and colour already chosen on the quote line, with no need to search again.
  • Duplicating a size row puts the cursor in the Quantity box, ready to type.
  • New or duplicated groups and items scroll into view and briefly highlight, and group titles are bolder.
  • Cleaner group layout: quiet “Add item” and “Add group” rows at the bottom, reorganised group header buttons, tidier type sizes, and the group total on one line.
  • Duplicating a group and saving the job wizard are faster and more reliable.

Look and feel

  • Pop-up messages now appear in the bottom-right corner, in the app and the portal.
  • A tidy-up across Settings (Markups, Company, Team, Payments, Email, Integrations, Task templates, Inks and Automations): clearer wording, consistent layouts, and a “Connected” label on connected apps.
  • Tidier screens elsewhere: the dashboard’s Closest Deadlines, the quotes list, the Select Garment window, the line item window’s messages, the My Tasks empty state, and report charts.
  • Consistent Australian spelling (“catalogue”) throughout.

Bug fixes

  • Saving a proof no longer fails with “An unexpected error occurred”.
  • New and duplicated groups now go to the bottom of the quote, not one above it.
  • Re-ordering job cards within a column on the board now saves.
  • New jobs no longer start with an empty status and disappear from the board.
  • Purchase orders no longer understate cost when a garment had no cost recorded.
  • Changing many quotes’ status at once no longer reports changes for quotes already in that status.
  • Typing quickly in search no longer loses the first letter.
  • Date pickers now open every time, and dates can always be clicked.
  • Each person now has their own dashboard, so editing yours no longer changes everyone else’s.
  • Sizes priced the same, such as 3XL, now appear in the portal’s size list, with a note to contact the shop if a size isn’t listed.
  • If a portal page fails to load, clients can retry instead of being stuck.
  • Approved Quick Mocks keep a correct record of how the client approved them when the quote becomes a job.
  • Quick Mocks can only be released to clients through the proper send step.
  • The API keys page no longer gets stuck on “Loading”.
  • Accounting no longer shows a “required” error on a field that’s already filled in.
  • Fixed several crashes: pasting a sign-in code, closing menus, selecting text, opening windows, and slow network responses.
  • Browsers now pick up new releases straight away, instead of sometimes showing an old version or old icons.

Behind the scenes

No visible change here, but plenty of work keeping PRINTOOLS reliable and easier to maintain: saves that touch several things at once now succeed or fail as a whole, crash reports are easier to read, and a round of general upkeep.
Thanks for all the feedback that shaped this release. Keep it coming. With love from Kenny @ PRINTOOLS
